Without affordable access to menstrual hygiene products, girls and women can lose up to 50 days a year of school or work. Sustainable Health Enterprises (SHE) manufactures and distributes affordable, locally-produced, high-quality and eco-friendly sanitary pads using waste banana fibre as a core component.
“When I started menstruation, I felt that I can’t do anything. Through Sustainable Health Enterprises’ school outreach, I learned that menstruation shouldn’t be the reason that I missed school.”
– Jackie, participant of Sustainable Health Enterprises’ Health and Hygiene education programme in Kigali, Rwanda
